Rita Edna Guzy, aged 102, passed away peacefully on July 30th at Bedford Apartments in Clarks Summit.

Born in Sutton Surrey, England, in 1922, she was the beloved daughter of Alfred and Edna Greaney. Rita served honorably in the Royal Air Force during World War II and journeyed to the United States as a war bride to her late husband, George Guzy, in 1946. She proudly became a U.S. citizen and made Clarks Summit her cherished home.

She was predeceased by her sister, brother, and two nephews in England.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Carol of Tacoma Washington, and her three loving sons: Greg and his wife Deborah of Clarks Summit, Geoff and his wife Fran of Dunmore, and Rich and his wife Laurie of Olympia, Washington. She leaves behind a legacy of eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and four great- great-grandchildren.

After dedicating 25 years of service to International Salt, Rita continued to make a positive impact by working at the Waverly House. Her passion for helping others was evident in her 15 years of volunteering at Telespond, where she touched many lives with her kindness and generosity.

Rita's time at Bedford Towers was filled with joy and camaraderie. She delighted in participating in activities such as bingo, book club meetings, breakfast club, and visits to the Senior Center. Her friends and neighbors fondly remember her captivating stories of England, her infectious laughter, and her warm smile.

Rita's family can attest to her deep love for her adopted country, her keen interest in politics, and her zest for life. She attributed her remarkable longevity to staying active and helping others. Known for her incredible memory, she never forgot a birthday in her large family. Rita was truly loved and admired, forever known as our "Queen".

Her family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for and befriended Rita throughout her long and fulfilling life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 12th from 4 pm to 6 pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit.
