Robert Somers, 79, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on December 12th. He was the husband of Betsy Somers, his wife of 53 years.
Born in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth Somers. He was a graduate of Stroudsburg High School and Bethel University,Tennessee. Prior to retirement, Bob was employed as a Sales Rep at LB Smith.
Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, as well as a loyal Penn State fan. He was a lifetime golfer, was a member of the Scranton Canoe Club, and spent many of Florida's beautiful sunny days playing rounds at Pinebrook Ironwood Golf Course in Bradenton.
Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Kester and husband Jeffrey; a son, Christopher Somers and wife Christa; four grandchildren: Troy Kester and Cicely, Harold, and Nathan Somers; a brother, James Somers; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister,Susan Grogan.

A celebration of life will be held at the Scranton Canoe Club, 408 Point Road, Lake Winola, on Saturday, June 22nd from noon to 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Neuro Challenge Foundation for Parkinson's Foundation www.neurochallenge.org.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
