At the age of "39 and holding", Roberta Lenore Bush continued her journey to find her peace on Friday, November 10, 2023. Assuredly, she is comforted and welcomed with love and open arms by her Savior.
Truly the sweetest human who ever walked this earth, she welcomed all with a gleaming smile, a twinkle in her eye, and a kind word. Roberta made each and every person she encountered feel special and purposeful. She enlightened whomever had the pleasure of being in her company and encouraged them to be the best they could be and to live, love and always forgive. Unique and proud, she focused only on the good in life. She exuded positivity while kindly and gently offering tender advice. The pleasure of knowing Roberta made you feel special and, spending a moment with her, you were quickly aware of exactly how special she was.
A devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Roberta took pride in the family that she created. Family gatherings were the highlight of her life and she was the ultimate life of the party.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, Roberta was the daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Day) Tosh. Graduating from Meyers High School in 1954, she was the prettiest majorette Meyers ever had. Throughout her life she was proud to remind all who met her of her talent to twirl and she continued to twirl throughout her life. She was a member of The Baptist Tabernacle Church. Roberta had faith in God regardless of any church she attended throughout her years. She loved to sing any religious hymn and knew each and every word.
Roberta traveled the world with her late husband Richard D. Bush and finally made her home in Clarks Summit. A member of the Dental Society, numerous Bridge Clubs, the Red Roses and Red Hatters, she still found the time to attend every swim meet her daughters competed in. Roberta is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Keene and husband Terry, Donna Wyatt and husband Gordy, Jackie Bush Holcomb and husband Frank; grandchildren Richard and Jennifer Keene, Lauren Keene Campbell, Gordon and Caitlin Wyatt, Brittany D'Alessio, Sean and Emily O'Connor; seven great grandchildren; sister Judith Mancini and husband Alex and sister-in-law Joyce Bush; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Dr. Richard D. Bush, daughter Kimberly O'Connor, brother Frank and wife Elizabeth Tosh, sister Patricia and husband John Reese, and brother-in-law Arthur Bush.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 12 noon at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. Friends are invited to pay respects from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
Gratitude is given to her friend and tender loving caregiver, Kathy Travis, and to Dr. Michael Kondash and staff for never-ending care and compassion, and to the staff and dear friends at The Pines Senior Living.
Memorial contributions can be made to Saint Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509.
Roberta always encouraged all to simply be kind.
