Roger W. Wintermute, 85, of Mehoopany passed away on December 10, 2021 at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley A. Stone Wintermute.
Born on November 3, 1936 he was the son of the late Roy R. and Beatrice Decker Wintermute. He was a member of the Mehoopany Baptist Church.
Roger owned and operated his farm in Mehoopany until being employed at Procter and Gamble in 1966, where we worked for nearly 30 years. After retirement, Roger enjoyed golfing with friends and visiting with family. He enjoyed farming, hunting, and working around his farm on his tractor. He and his family enjoyed many vacations at Pike Lake and Muskrat Lake in Ontario, Canada, and at the Outer Banks, in Avon, NC.
Roger was always known as a great conversationalist. Their home became the gathering place for friends and family, where Roger could be found at the kitchen table, having coffee and entertaining those around him with his stories and the history of what seemed like everyone in four surrounding counties. Everyone left Roger and Shirley's home as better people for having spent time with him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Jerry E. and wife Melinda and Wayne and wife Sherry; daughters, Trudy Lynn and husband Randy Adams and Brenda Lee and husband Jacob Dum; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Roger is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as sister-in-law, Margaret Furman and brother-in-law Jim Stone and his wife Darlene.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Miner, brothers, Donald, Kenneth, and Carl, and grandson Isaac Dum.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements and care entrusted to Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
