Rosa Escalante (AKA Mami Rosa) led a remarkable and fulfilling life, spanning over a century. Born in 1921, she hailed from the small town of Ancash in Peru. From an early age, Rosa had a deep passion for learning and education, which she eventually transformed into a noble profession as an educator, dedicated to serving the less privileged.

As her journey unfolded, Rosa relocated to Lima, the bustling capital city of Peru. There, she continued her teaching career and also becoming a principal all while also embracing the joys of family life alongside her beloved husband, Jorge. Together, they raised four children, starting with their eldest, Amelia, followed by Mary, Elizabeth, and Jorge.

Though life presented its challenges, Rosa's resilience shone through. After the untimely passing of her husband at the age of 52, she embarked on a new chapter, moving to America with some of her adult children. This courageous decision opened up a world of opportunities for Rosa, who embraced her various roles in life with grace and compassion. She was not only a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother but also a cherished friend to many.

Rosa's zest for life was infectious. She thrived on meeting new people, exploring different cultures through travel, and finding joy in the simple pleasures, such as dancing and spending quality time with loved ones. Even in her later years, she remained an eternal student, often seen engrossed in her English books and diligently practicing vocabulary in her notebook.

Rosa Escalante's journey serves as an inspiration to us all. Her unwavering love, kindness, and unyielding thirst for knowledge are a testament to the incredible life she lived.
