Roy Prevost

August 26, 1962 — June 25, 2023

Roy E. Prevost, 60, of Tunkhannock passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Bonnie Altemus Prevost.

Born on August 26, 1962, he is the son of the late Judson and Esther Jones Prevost. He was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School class of 1980 and a member of the Russell Hill United Methodist Church.

Roy was known for his strength of character, robust sense of humor, and his unwavering work ethic. He dedicated his life to farming and took great pride in his daily routine of tending to his herd and crops. Roy truly understood the elements of hard work and perseverance that were required in order to succeed.

Roy's generous nature was perhaps even more impressive than his work ethic. Those who knew him would attest that he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need without hesitation. He was always there for family and friends, ready to lend a helping hand.

Outside of farming, Roy enjoyed riding his motorcycle, Mopars, golfing, acquiring equipment at auctions, and cooking copious amounts of food for family events, especially making his cinnamon buns and blackberry pies. He always knew how to live life to its fullest and get the most fun out of any situation. Despite his busy schedule, Roy always found time to spend with those who mattered most - particularly his two granddaughters. These young women were undoubtedly among the proudest accomplishments of his life.

He is survived by sons, Justin Prevost (Amity Lyles), Travis Prevost and wife Jan Prevost; daughter, Alex Prevost; sister, Angelique Prevost-Peters and husband Steve; granddaughters, Charlotte and Evelyn Prevost; large extended family.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by brother, Judson Prevost; grandson, Johnathan Prevost.

Roy is remembered as someone who truly embodied what it meant to be strong willed, hardworking, funny, and generous. He will be missed by all who knew him.
