It is with great sadness we share the passing of SaraAnn Hosier, 93, Clarks Summit, where she resided since 1980. She passed away April 6th after a brief illness. Her loss was completely unexpected and her family is profoundly saddened.

SaraAnn was born February 10, 1931 to Gayle and Joseph Updegraff in Harrisburg, PA. She had two siblings: Dale Updegraff and Shirley Hamburg, both deceased. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald Hosier.

SaraAnn is survived by sons Carl Hosier and his wife Susan (East Berlin, PA) and Jeff Hosier and his wife Carol (Clarks Summit, PA); grandchildren Andrew Hosier (York, PA), Leah Hosier (Clearfield, PA), Kyle Hosier and wife Makayla (Taylor, PA), Kaylin Szychowski and husband Kevin (Taylor, PA), Keegan Hosier and wife Elizabeth (Scott Twp, PA), Kullen Hosier (Wilmington DE), Andrew Arnold and wife Wendy (Danville), and Ashley Wisner and Mike Stare (Liverpool); and 13 great grandchildren.

SaraAnn graduated from Pennsylvania State University. While at Penn State, she was a finalist in the Miss Penn State contest, personally chosen by actor John Wayne. She was also an accomplished pianist where she studied at Foley Music School, Harrisburg PA. After graduating from Penn State, she worked as a school teacher at the Alexander Goode School in York, PA., where she retired from a full-time teaching career to focus on raising her sons.

SaraAnn was a great mother and a beautiful human being. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, a relentlessly positive attitude, and a lifelong commitment to helping others. She was a deacon at her beloved church, First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit, where she found fulfillment in helping others. She regularly donated her time to help friends in need with rides to doctor appointments, meals, etc. SaraAnn loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
