Sheila Ann Vauter passed away in her bed, at home and peacefully on May 9, 2023. She would have been married 39 years on May 12, and reached her 75th birthday on June 12, 2023.

Sheila successfully fought with Epilepsy for all her adult life. The seizure disorder robbed her of her ability to drive—a love of hers during her high school and later years- yet never once compromised her positive spirit and desire to give herself to others. Sheila led a successful and productive life as a professional secretary of over 35 years with the Pa. Dept. of Health and later in the employment of Dr. Paul Remick. "Hold your head up high" was her philosophy in life and Sheila did so admirably. Sheila was never seen without a smile on her face, hope in her heart and laughter in her voice.

A voracious reader all her life, it was a rare occasion when Sheila was seen without a book or her precious Kindle. Sheila enjoyed vacationing with her close High School friends, particularly in Cape May, New Jersey. She also enjoyed numerous trips to the Southwest, in particular Arizona and New Mexico. All her trips reflected her personality, warm and sunny.  Sheila also enjoyed movies and dining with her friends and watching and playing with the three family cats, Mutzi, PB—her favorite, and Pumpkin. Above all though she worshiped her nephew and niece, Mathew, and Maura respectively and, more recently her grandniece, Grace.

Sheila made friends easily, they enjoying her broad smile and quick wit. Sheila was a devoted partner who never had nor demanded unreasonable expectations. She was an unequaled supportive, understanding, and patient best friend who never once gave up in her quest to help and do the very best in helping her life-long partner through his weaknesses at home. She was a saint in that support, far surpassing what could have been expected.

Special thanks to her close friends who assisted her in her transportation and emotional needs, and her long-term co-workers of over 35 years at the Health Department who supported her during the brief but continuing episodes of seizures.

I will be forever grateful for all the wonderful years Sheila gave to me of her life and shared with me. I will never forget.

In addition to her husband Karl, Sheila is survived by her brother James Silvestri (Carole), brother-in-law William Vauter (Maria), nephews Mathew Silvestri (Laura) and William Vauter, nieces Maura Silvestri and Alena Chu (John) grandniece Grace Silvestri and grand nephews, Edwin and Laim Chu and cousins.
