Shirley Ann Gardner was born on June 14,1936 to Marion Colvin Gardner and Charles Z. Gardner. She resided in Clarks Summit for most of her life. Shirley died peacefully on May 19, 2026 at The Gardens of Greenridge in Scranton, PA.

Shirley was an accomplished seamstress and spent her career working in the bygone Scranton textile industry. After retiring Shirley was a fixture in the community delivering The Scranton Times and won the Outstanding Carrier of the Year award several times. Shirley enjoyed gardening, knitting and was a lover of all animals, especially her numerous dogs throughout the years who were her constant companions.

Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, her sister Naomi Floyde (Jim), and her 2 brothers, David Gardner (Mary), and James Gardner (Yvonne). She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Ellen Bray, Debra Gaughan, Edward Gardner, Susan Speiser, Dawn Knoblauch, Faith Floyde, James Gardner, Nathan Floyde, Jon Floyde, Dan Floyde, Tim Floyde and Priscilla Flemings. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a member of the Servant Church of the Abingtons 204 S. Abington Rd Clarks Green, PA. A service will be held at the church on Tuesday May 26, 2026 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Dalton, PA.

Donations to your local animal shelter in her honor would be appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, Clarks Summit.
