Shirley Glenn Mclaughlin

Shirley Glenn McLaughlin, 89, of Clarks Summit died unexpectedly in the early morning of December 26, 2022 at her home, just 2 days shy of her 90 ^th birthday.  She is survived by her husband James J. McLaughlin, Sr., with whom she shared 71 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Earl M. and Gladys Mellor Glenn. As an  active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit for 56 years, she served as an Elder and Deacon.  She greatly loved singing in the choir and playing bells.  Shirley was a field hockey referee for 67 years.  She was recognized by PIAA for 50 years of sports officiating and has a plaque that will hang in perpetuity in her honor on the PIAA Wall of Honor. For many years she was a formidable force on the tennis court playing in many singles, doubles, and mixed doubles competitions.

Also surviving are:  Children: Glenn (Susan), Pottstown, PA, Jeffrey (Maureen), Waverly, PA, Jay (Debbie), Malvern, PA and Donna DeMatteo, Spring Lake, NJ.  Grandchildren: Erin Husband (Andy), Lauren Bolger (Steve), Jimmy McLaughlin (Lindsey Boyd), Sarah McLaughlin, 5 Great Granddaughters, extended family, and many lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother Don and sister JoNan.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 3rd at 12 noon at the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit, 300 School Street, Clarks Summit by the Reverend William Carter.

Donations in memory of Shirley's life may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit or the charitable organization of your choice.
