Thelma N. Young

Thelma Neely Young died at the Golden Living Personal Care Home March 19, 2015. Born April 7, 1919 in Philadelphia she was the only daughter of the late Robert and Anna Groome Young. After graduating from high school she went to work at West Chemical in Philadelphia for over 40 years until they shut their doors. Through the years she took care of her dad who was bed-ridden and her Mom until their passing. She then moved in with her childhood friends Dorothea McMenamin and Elizabeth Harrigan and family. They all moved to Upper Darby, PA where Thelma finished working at Paramount Pictures and retired. Eleven years ago Thelma and friends moved to Tunkhannock to be near Veto and Dottie Barziloski and family for support and help in their Golden years. Thelma was very active as a member of the Osterhout Bible Church and was active with the Tunkhannock Senior Center where she was a member of the Red Hat Ladies. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Thelma was accepted as an Aunt and loved by all her family. Funeral services will be held on Monday March 23rd at 12:00 Noon from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 West Tioga St. Tunkhannock interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery Tunkhannock, friends and family may call at the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
