Thomas Jeffrey (Jeff) MacMillan of South Abington Township and Baylors Lake crossed the bar surrounded by his loving family on Monday evening at Allied Hospice, Scranton. His wife of over 58 years is the former Karen Jenkins.

Born in Williamsport, he was the son of the late John and Anna Jones MacMillan. He was a 1956 graduate of Scranton Central High School, a 1961 Phi Theta Kappa graduate of Keystone Junior College, and a 1964 graduate of Penn State University. Jeff spent 35 years in Human Resources and Labor Relations serving as Director of Industrial Relations for the Scranton and Binghamton Divisions of Republic Corporation, Business Administrator at Penn State University – Wilkes-Barre Campus, Vice President for Corporate Services for Allied Services, Vice President of Human Resources and Public Affairs for Hazleton General Hospital, and Senior Vice President of Human Resources for the Greater Hazleton Healthcare Association.

Jeff spent two years on active duty as a training instructor in life boat handling in the United States Coast Guard and six years in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Waverly Lodge #301. He belonged to the Abington VFW, the Penn State Alumni Association, the Baylors Lake Association, the Northeast Pennsylvania Coast Guard Veterans Association and, until recently, the Scranton Canoe Club.

He was an avid golfer and fitness advocate, jogger, and student of history. He visited the Gettysburg Battlefield at least once per year for the past 50+ years. Jeff loved spending holidays with his whole family either at his home or at Baylors Lake in the summer. He had fond memories of growing up spending summers at Lake Winola. He was a die-hard Phillies, Penn State, and Eagles fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Susan Murray and husband Gerald of South Abington Township, and Tracey DeRosier and husband Michael of Doylestown; grandchildren Megan Murray and fiancé Patrick Foley of Conshohocken, Gerald Murray and wife Maria of Philadelphia, Andrew DeRosier and Tegan DeRosier, both of Doylestown; and one nephew, Mark Warren of Mechanicsburg.

He was preceded in death by brothers Robert and Jack MacMillan and sister Elizabeth MacMillan Warren.

A funeral service with military and Mason honors will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, June 17th at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. Calling hours will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial donations may be made to the Abington VFW, Waverly Lodge, or the Chinchilla Hose Company.
