Violet (Norton) Shivokevich of the Bell Mountain section of Dickson City passed away on February 4, 2024 at Allied Skilled Nursing Hospice in Scranton. Born in Scranton June 22, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Leona and Kenneth Norton.

She was the widow of the late Edward J. Shivokevich, a Marine Corps World War II veteran, who died in 1967 and of whom Violet was extremely proud.

She enjoyed her school years at North Scranton Junior High and was a graduate of the 1945 "all war" class of Scranton Technical High School.

She enjoyed caring for her yard, gardening, and her little white house on Bell Mountain, visiting her parents' and sister's houses nearby, long walks with her sister Marion, drives through the countryside and to Gouldsboro for visits to her other sister, Diddy's family.

She was a retiree from JC Penney's in Scranton from where she often purchased the latest fashions for her mother and daughters.

A long-time member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Scranton, she and Marion regularly participated in volunteer services, cleaning and washing the kitchen and sanctuary, and working on Welsh Cookie bakes.

She loved her family and spent as much time with them as she could. She was fiercely proud and loving of her daughters and granddaughters, and proud that they all graduated college, of their careers, and their many accomplishments.

She is survived by her two daughters: Linda Norton and husband Tim (Scott Township), Kathy Zlotucha and husband John (Fleetville), granddaughters: Atty. Dana Zlotucha and husband Atty. Kevin Messett (S. Abington Twp.), Lindsey Tomaine and husband Ryan (Bogart, GA), great granddaughter Harper Sloane Tomaine, nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to her late husband "Shivy" and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Marion Gavern and husband John, Elizabeth Beemer and husband Donald, brothers Kenneth and wife Claire Norton, and Ronald and wife Sharon Norton.

The family would like to thank the staff at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center, especially Kathy Osborne, Director of Social Services.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. from St. Luke's Episcopal Church, with services by The Reverend Rebecca A. Barnes, Rector. Friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 5 pm to 7 pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit.
