Volkhard Rutter “Richie”, 75, of Tunkhannock passed away on Tuesday January 4, 2022 at his home. He is survived by the love of his life, Carol Lee White Rutter, who celebrated 23 years of marriage together. Born in Bad Salzdetfurth, Germany on June 3, 1946 he was the son of the late Ludwig Rutter and survived by his loving mother Inis Mikolajczak Rutter. He loved spending time with his family, he was very proud of each and every one of them. Before retirement he was a meat manager for Gerrity’s supermarkets for more than 20 years. Richie loved traveling to Europe and around the states with his wife as well as many fishing trips in the summer to Canada. He was an avid New York Yankees and Cowboys Fan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Christopher Mitchell and wife Jennifer; daughter, Mara Howey and husband Ricky, Courtney Hubbard and husband Kamron, Ashley MacDougall and husband Trevor, Theresa Ryan and husband Timothy, Christine Hochberg and husband Patrick, Patricia Santiago and husband Miguel, and Toni Ann Sobers; sister, Veronika Doherty; grandchildren, Connor, Cooper, Aysia, Karson, Melissa, Megan, Sean, Matthew, Jeremy, Alyssa, Jordan, and Cassandra; twelve great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend Richie’s funeral service which will be held on Saturday January 8, 2022 at 10:00 AM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Pastor Daniel Jones presiding. Interment will follow in Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock. A viewing will be held on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
