Walter Garey

Walter Garey, 93, of Tunkhannock passed away Sunday, July 26, 2025, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dolores (Driesbaugh) in 2005.

Born on April 7, 1932, in Mill City, he is the son of the late Walter and Mae (Reynolds) Garey.

He attended Falls-Overfield High School. Walter proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

After returning from military service, Walter began a promising career at Halsey Corp in Scranton, where he worked for 19 years. His professional journey continued as he joined Procter and Gamble, dedicating himself to the company from 1974 until his well-earned retirement in 1992.

An avid sports fan, he particularly enjoyed watching baseball, and he embraced the outdoor life with hobbies such as hunting and racing.

Walter is survived by sons, Walter Garey and wife Michele, Shane Garey and wife Jessica, Kevin Garey and wife Lynette; brothers, Gerald and Howard Garey; sister, Susan Burgess; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by daughters, Martha and Tina Garey.

As per Walter's wishes there will be no funeral services. Interment will be held in Fairlawn Cemetery, Dalton.
