Ward Emerson Jones, of South Abington Township, passed away Saturday morning at his home. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Marie Doherty Jones, whom he married in 1970.
Born in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Emerson and Dorothy Ward Jones. Ward was a proud Army veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a machinist for D.G. Nichols and later for Schott Glass. He was also a dedicated member of the Abington VFW Post 7069.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael Jones and his wife Jennifer of Clarks Summit, and James Jones and his wife Carrie of Camp Hill; and his cherished granddaughter, Julia Jones.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at East Canaan Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Lackawanna County and the Gary Sinise Foundation.
