Wayne Gozikowski, 65, of Falls, PA passed on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre Township. Living with type 1 diabetes since childhood, Wayne bested the difficult times with his offbeat, often self-deprecating sense of humor, which kept loved ones and close friends from sinking into despondency during his multiple medical interventions and treatments in the months preceding his death. After enduring daunting toe and foot surgeries, he would often quip that he had "one foot in the grave," a close family member recalled.

After graduating from Wyoming Area High School in 1978, Wayne embarked on a career as a chef. His devotion to loved ones led him away from this passion professionally, committing 35 years at Proctor and Gamble as an Industrial Engineer. In his free time, Wayne continued practicing his dream job, fond of bringing people together with his cooking.

Wayne was a man of many interests and talents. A denizen of the outdoors, he thoroughly enjoyed capturing the beauty of nature with his photography. Wayne savored the peace that came with watching the wild birds from his porch, giving stray cats a loving home, and leading his pack of Maltese puppies through the yard. He also sought thrills, eagerly sharing night cam videos of the backyard bears, setting up the table for family game night, booking fishing trips, plane rides, and planning dreamy days on the beaches of Key West. With his gentle hands he played the keys for the 80's band Infinity, built model planes in appreciation of World War II history, meticulously cared for his saltwater aquarium, and constructed the home where he raised his children and later resided with the love of his life, Marie.

Wayne is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 12 years, Marie (Zionkowski) Gozikowski, and twin children Alan and Brittany Gozikowski. Wayne also leaves to cherish his memory step-children Megan Brown, David Brown, and Ashley Long; his 2 grandchildren, Wesley Brown and Calvin Brown; and his siblings Donna Gozikowski, David Gozikowski, and Scott Gozikowski. He was predeceased by his parents Myrtle and Thomas Gozikowski, as well as his brother Thomas Gozikowski Jr.

Wayne's death is mourned by those who knew and loved him, but he never wanted a funeral service. Instead, he requested a party with family and friends as his memorial. On June 7th, a Celebration of Life Party will serve as a reminder of Wayne's unique approach to life, love of nature, and the sharp wit he sustained through even the difficult times. All who knew Wayne are invited to the Backwoods Bar and Grill (469 Orange Road, Dallas, PA) to party throughout the afternoon and into the evening with music and remembrances of Wayne.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne's memory may be made to: Meshoppen Cat Rescue, 9883. S. Route 6, Meshoppen PA 18630.

Arrangements and care entrusted to Marcho, Sheldon, and Kukuchka Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
