William "Linn" Griffiths, 90, of Dalton, passed away on Tuesday at Allied Hospice, Scranton. His wife of over 65 years is the former Jane Purcell.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Linn Griffiths. He was a 1952 graduate of West Side High School, then served in the United States Army as a Morse Code Radio Operator in Germany. Following his military service, he attended National Technical Institute to learn IBM wiring and operations. Prior to his retirement, Linn worked at A&P Tea Co. for 24 years and as a meat cutter for Schiff's for 31 years. He was a member of the Dalton United Methodist Church and served as past secretary of the Dalton Lions Club, past President of Down Yonder, and past secretary of the Dalton Baptist Church Trustees.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Darren, wife Amy, of North Carolina; daughter Lisa Machell, of Florida; son Douglas, wife Emily of Lancaster; grandchildren Rachel and Carley Griffiths, Mackenzie Machell and Eleanor Myers; niece Ruth Nowicki, husband Jeff, and daughter, Ann Marie; nephews Robert Hartrim, wife Joanne, their children, Heather and Casey; John Garvey, wife Sue, their children Erin and Adam; J. Stephen Fletcher and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Linn especially loved his "therapy cat", Aurora.

He was predeceased by sister, Maxine Hartrim, grandniece Kelly Harroun, and grandnephews Corporal Robert Nowicki and Kenny Phillips.

Linn loved his wife, children and grandchildren and looked forward to his yearly vacations at the beach. He was an avid Penn State and New York Giants fan. He was the family patriarch and will be deeply missed.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. Friends and family may pay their respects at the funeral home from 1pm to the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, PO Box 326, Chamberlain, SD, 57326.
