William Allan Petty, 83 of Clarks Green passed away on Wednesday, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, lost golf balls and balanced spreadsheets.

Born in Clarks Summit, he was the son of the late William Milton and Hazel Pearl Decker Petty. A beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, William dedicated every aspect of his life to his family. Following his graduation from Lackawanna Junior College, he started his lifelong career in accounting, where he held many roles over the years, most recently as the business manager of the Roy W. Piper Charitable Trust and Susquehanna Apartments in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania. If he wasn't working, he could be found on the golf course, sharing his love of the game with his friends and family. Though most of a given round may be spent in the woods searching for golf balls, he always found a way to leave you with a few extra pointers and plenty of smiles by the end of a round.

If one thing was for certain, William's pride and joy was his late wife Judy, to whom he was married for 58 years. Together they settled on Daytona Beach Shores as a vacation destination, always surrounding themselves with the company of family and friends. When in Florida, William's passion for NASCAR racing shone through in the hours he spent at the Daytona International Speedway, often frequenting the Daytona 500.

William always kept himself busy, but he made sure he was always there to hear from his family. In many ways he was more than a husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was an honest and selfless man whose generosity knew no bounds. He will be most remembered for his unwavering presence and support for his family, always there when they needed him most.

William is survived by his sons William B Petty and his wife Deborah, and Michael Petty; grandson William B Petty II; granddaughter Samantha Petty; brother Ray Petty and his wife Barbara; sister Barbara Piazza; sister Linda McClure and her husband William; many nieces and nephews; and his dog Lola.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sandra Henley Petty. A funeral will be held at 11 am on Saturday December 28th at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. Friends and family may pay their respects from 10 am until the time of the service.
